Who Is Stephen Kalyn and Who Is He Playing In The Housemaid’s Secret?
Stephen Kalyn is a Canadian actor who shot to fame after starring in Prime Video’s Off Campus in 2026, portraying bad boy Dean Di Laurentis.
Dean is also one of the Briar University hockey players at the centre of the series. It comes as we recently broke the news that the actor will star alongside Shay Rudolph in season 2 of the show. Shay will play his sister, Summer DiLaurentis.
The series is an adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s bestselling hockey-romance novels.
Who did Stephen Kalyn originally want to play in Off Campus?
What some fans may not know is that Kalyn originally auditioned for the role of John Logan. However, the character is now played by Antonio Cipriano.
In an interview with Bustle, Kalyn shared that he was glad he was cast as Dean as it is a role more suited to him. He said, “it’s interesting how the casting process works because I see why I didn’t get the part,” he says. “And then Dean came along, and then I was like, OK, that seems more up my alley.”
From Hockey to Acting
Stephen Kalyn was born in Toronto, Ontario. The actor grew up playing ice hockey before eventually giving acting a go. His passion for performing developed while he was at high school, where he played Danny Zuko in a production of Grease.
He then landed smaller television roles, including appearances in Transplant and Murdoch Mysteries. He subsequently moved into larger film and television projects.
In 2023, he appeared in the films Warrior Strongand Cascade, while also playing Young Lou in the CBC miniseries Essex County. His work on Essex County earned him a Canadian Screen Award nomination as part of the show’s ensemble.
In 2024, Kalyn appeared in Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent and Paying for It, as well as Prime Video’s Cruel Intentions. He then continued his relationship with Prime Video with appearances in Gen V and Motorheads.
Now in Season 2 of Off Campus, he is as one of the leads, which will focus on Dean’s relationship with Allie Hayes, played by Mika Abdalla.
Who Is Stephen Kalyn Playing in The Housemaid’s Secret?
Stephen Kalyn is now a part of The Housemaid’s Secret cast! The new movie is the upcoming sequel to 2025’s The Housemaid, starring Sydney Sweeney and based on the book by Frieda McFadden.
Kalyn will play Brock Cunningham. He is a lawyer and the boyfriend of Sweeney’s character, Millie Calloway.
In the story, Brock begins dating as she attempts to rebuild her life. However, he is unaware of Millie’s dark past as he tries to move their relationship forward. But Millie is still grappling with her history.
The sequel sees Millie as she takes a new housekeeping job, working for wealthy CEO Douglas Garrick and his wife, Wendy, played by Kirsten Dunst. But she becomes increasingly suspicious about what is happening inside the Garricks’ home,leading her to investigate and learning a huge and sinister secret.
The film is being directed by Paul Feig, who also directed The Housemaid, with Rebecca Sonnenshine returning to write the screenplay.
Sydney Sweeney will reprise her role as Millie, while Michele Morrone is also returning as Enzo. Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow and Paul Anthony Kelly are among the new additions to the cast.
When is The Housemaid’s Secret set to be released?
The Housemaid’s Secret is reportedly set to be released in cinemas on December 17, 2027.
