If you’re anything like me and you love a good horror movie, stick around – you’ll want to find out if Weapons is worth watching.
With so many movies to choose from lately, I was in the mood for a fun evening of scares. But I wasn’t expecting that I’d be getting more than I hoped for.

It’s a bit of an odd time for a horror movie to release – August isn’t exactly known for spooky season – but I guess it’s all part of the lead-up to Halloween, especially with a new Conjuring film also set to hit the big screen soon.
Here’s my movie review of Weapons.
What is Weapons About?
The movie centers around the mysterious disappearance of several schoolchildren—all from the same class. The children all leave their homes at exactly 2:17 a.m., except for one student, a boy named Alex.
The next morning, their teacher, Justine, walks into her classroom only to find Alex there alone. The parents are furious, and Justine faces their wrath both inside and outside of school.
Meanwhile, the police are baffled, and CCTV footage from the front doors of the children’s homes shows them all leaving and walking in the same direction in a bizarre manner.
One parent decides to take matters into their own hands. At the same time, Justine begins digging into the mystery herself, as she discovers some troubling information about Alex’s home life.
The story is told from the perspectives of the main characters – including Alex -revealing the strange events that took place in the small town of Maybrook, Pennsylvania.
The film stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan.
Is Weapons Worth Watching?

If you love horror comedies like Scream or Scary Movie, this one’s for you.
The film runs for 2 hours and 8 minutes, and it does feel a little lengthy. A shorter runtime might have made it hit harder.
However, I really enjoyed a lot of it. It felt like a parody of horror, especially with the random jump scares and over-the-top sound effects—it was both hilarious and very creepy.
I couldn’t stop laughing (to the point of tears), but I also found myself looking away during some of the more gruesome moments. It was definitely a whirlwind experience.
There were a few random character moments that felt unnecessary, but I had fun getting to see the story from multiple points of view.
Once the mystery of the missing kids was solved, the storyline did become a bit too predictable.
However, I wouldn’t say it was a waste of time -I genuinely had fun. I love a horror movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still keeps you hooked throughout.
Critical Reviews
With a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, critics have been raving about this movie.
One person said, “It’s bold to take a horror film like this and treat it like a character piece for a long stretch of the film, punctuated by horror. It succeeds by letting the characters be unexpectedly messy and defying your expectations about who they are.”
“Most of the movie’s effectiveness comes from odd appearances rather than obvious violence, although blood and gore get screen time,” a second chimed in.
A third critic raved, “It was a good time… I was dialed in the whole time.”
A fourth added, “The most memorable performance is by Amy Madigan… [who] easily steals the movie with a hilarious yet spellbinding turn.”
