Let’s unpack The Summer I Turned Pretty, Season 3, Episode 6.
This episode is pretty uneventful compared to the last, if I’m honest with you. The storyline mainly revolves around wedding planning, including Belly’s bridal shower and apartment hunting.
Conrad isn’t the main focus of the episode, which, unfortunately, isn’t great news for some. You can check out my recap of the last episode here.

There’s some focus on Jeremiah and Conrad’s dad, especially as Belly and Jeremiah are both living with him to plan for the wedding.
We also get more of Laurel and Lucinda, Taylor’s mom, throughout this season. Here’s a recap and my thoughts on the latest The Summer I Turned Pretty episode.
What Happened in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 6?
A struggling Belly
Belly is feeling very lonely in her wedding planning. Jeremiah is largely away working at his dad’s company and seems to only really care about the wedding cake (or so it seems).
Meanwhile, Belly is overwhelmed.
To add to that, she is still dealing with her feelings for both Conrad and Jeremiah.
She is torn between her love for Conrad and her growing attachment to Jeremiah.
The episode shows her vulnerability as she tries to figure out how to make everyone else happy for her nuptials while not losing herself in the process.
Conrad’s acts of service
I’m so happy to see Conrad finally opening up to Belly this season, and it’s clearly bringing them closer.
I love both the grand and small gestures he does for her, like trying to convince Belly’s mom, Laurel, to attend their wedding or leaving food in the fridge for her to eat.
I definitely feel like Conrad is an “acts of service” kind of man, and I absolutely love that.
The fact that he still remembers little things about her and actively finds ways to make her happy shows how mature and loving he is. He’s always been there for her.
Despite this, I do think Belly tends to put Conrad on a pedestal, forgetting he’s just human and makes mistakes. He does acknowledge that, though, which shows growth.
Jeremiah’s feelings
Jeremiah has been Belly’s boyfriend for a significant portion of the summer, and unfortunately, his cheating scandal has definitely driven a wedge between him and Belly.
I think sometimes he needs to just be a man and not a kid who is constantly trying to please his dad, who clearly prefers Conrad.
He should focus on Belly despite his feelings, showing up for her now as it’s the pivotal moment in their relationship.
Laurel’s role
I’m so glad Laurel finally embraced her daughter’s choices (even if it was with Conrad’s help).
I’m really happy we got a backstory on why Laurel is so against Belly marrying Young, even if it wasn’t super in-depth.
Her reasons are valid, but at the same time, you can’t control your daughter’s future. Just because her life turned out a certain way doesn’t mean Belly’s will too.
(Also, side note, she definitely prefers Conrad. It’s so obvious.)
The Impact of Susannah’s Illness
The impact of Susannah’s illness continues to shape the narrative in the show.
It’s clear that everyone is still dealing with the aftermath of her diagnosis and death (if that’s still relevant in this season), and it continues to affect how everyone interacts.
Trivia question
At the bridal shower, Belly realises she’d incorrectly answered a trivia question about Jeremiah’s first dog, Rosie, mistaking Jeremiah for Conrad.
Something that seems to really throw her.
I didn’t expect one trivia question to make Belly question everything she has with Jeremiah.
Honestly, it kinda showed her age.
It’s a bit ridiculous to think that the only true way to really love anyone is to know everything about them.
The Cliffhanger
That ending.
At the beach house, Conrad cuts his leg while surfing, and after Belly dresses the wound and comforts him, she gives in to her feelings and almost kisses him before he stands up and walks away. Leaving her feeling really shaken.
No, but the tension on that ending was so good. It’s definitely up there with the peach scenes.

Overall thoughts 💌
This season just keeps getting better and better.
It’s really hitting that there’s not long until the season finale.
This episode was so tear-jerking as I loved the moment between Belly and Laurel finally bonding at the bridal shower.
It’s been a long time coming, and to see them connect on such a deeper level was beautiful.
It’s been clear all season that Laurel has had her reservations about Belly’s choices, especially regarding her relationships with Conrad and Jeremiah, but this moment showed how much she truly cares about her daughter.
Belly is also coming into her own and starting to understand her mom in ways she hadn’t before.
This episode also showed how Conrad, despite his internal struggles, is still the guy who would do anything for the people he loves.
His willingness to make difficult decisions, whether it’s about the wedding or his relationship with Belly, proves just how much he’s grown -not just for her, but for himself, too.
Overall, I can’t wait to see what the next few episodes bring.
