I’ll be honest — that episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty had to be the best so far. I’m probably biased because I’m Team Conrad, and seeing him back where he belongs at the Cousins house, with his true feelings for Belly seeping through again, literally made me so happy.

What happened in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 4?
Here’s my short review and recap of what happened in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Episode 4.
Belly’s 21st Birthday
Guys, it’s finally Belly’s birthday! She’s all grown up with huge life decisions on her shoulders.
It’s been two weeks after Susannah’s memorial, and they’re only six weeks away from Belly and Jeremiah saying their vows.
Her mom, Laurel, surprises her with Mickey Mouse pancakes – then immediately refuses to go dress shopping because she still disapproves of Belly and Jeremiah’s huge life plans.
Belly, heartbroken, ends up spending time with Taylor and Lucinda.
However, the day leaves Belly feeling lost and alone. Without her mother or Susannah by her side, the moment leaves her in tears.
The Fallout at home
Wow — that huge argument between Belly, Jeremiah, and Laurel was not an easy watch.
It all starts when Jeremiah surprises Belly with a key to the Summer House and brings flowers for Laurel, hoping to win her over by reminding her of their long history.
But Laurel stands her ground, making it clear she doesn’t support their decision to get married so young. She warns she won’t attend the wedding and urges them to wait until after college.
After the fallout, Belly, hurt and frustrated, runs off to the Cousins Beach House with Jeremiah.
Unsuspectingly, Conrad is already there – and his presence makes it clear that his feelings about the situation are far from resolved, even as the wedding plans continue.
Condrads return
As I’ve already mentioned, Conrad is back and everything turns complicated.
He is less than eager and appears distant from both Belly and Jeremiah.
He returns to Cousins after resigning from his lab job due to burnout.
Conrad treats Belly in a special way for her birthday and decides to leave Cousins a little later than expected after seeing how emotional she is.
He even bakes her dirt-bomb muffins and agrees to be Jeremiah’s co-best man, despite his own lingering feelings.
Taylor’s Sacrifices
Meanwhile, Taylor sacrifices her New York PR internship to stay home and help her mom Lucinda pay off a creditor who had opened lines of credit in her name.
My Thoughts౨ৎ
I really enjoyed this episode. Did I finally start to despise Jeremiah a bit more for selfishly putting Belly through so much while also not supporting her dreams? Heck yes.
Despite this, I loved how Conrad was portrayed here. He knew what Belly wanted the most, and there is also his voice-over in the end, which sets up the episode narrated by him.
I also loved how the trio were finally back at Cousins house and got to enjoy small moments that Susannah would have loved for sure.
I 100 percent understood where Laurel is coming from, as getting married young is such a huge sacrifice, especially as someone who hasn’t figured out who they really are. Do I think Jeremiah is the one for Belly? No. I’m sure he’s immature and isn’t responsible yet.
Sorry, I don’t want to bash him too much – saying this, he does look like he really cares for her. I really don’t know how the story will pan out, but I’m so here for it!
