Early life

The actor was born in Birmingham on February 2, 1995, and grew up in Derbyshire before moving to North Yorkshire and later Nottingham after his parents’ divorce.

A reluctant start in acting led him to the Nottingham Television Workshop at 15. Tragically, his father passed away from cancer while he was pursuing his career.

After high school, Blyth joined the National Youth Theatre and appeared in various stage productions.

He went on to earn a scholarship to study at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City at the age of 21.

While in college, he performed in plays like Twelfth Night and Antony and Cleopatra.

Blyth’s on-screen career began with small roles in Robin Hood and Pelican Blood, but his breakthrough came in 2018 with the lead role in Scott and Sid, a coming-of-age film.

Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes success

Tom Blyth became a breakout star in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, starring alongside Rachel Zegler.

For Hunger Games fans, this film is super exciting, especially since it’s set just before the 10th annual Hunger Games, on the morning of the Reaping.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ book The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the movie came out in 2023 and follows a young Coriolanus Snow (played by Blyth).

While he’s not the ruthless president we know, we see Coriolanus during his younger years, struggling with poverty while trying to make a name for himself.

In this film, Snow is a mentor to Lucy Gray Baird, a young tribute from District 12.

As their relationship develops, Snow grapples with his feelings for Lucy. Despite their growing romance, he focuses solely on the competition as he sets his hopes on winning the Plinth Prize scholarship. In this film, we see Snow as he ruthlessly does whatever it takes to make Lucy win the Hunger Games.

The action-packed movie showcases the backstory of Snow turning into the eventual villain we all come to know.

With a great cast and a gripping storyline, it’s an incredible prequel that gives a new perspective on one of the most iconic characters in the franchise.

Tom Bylth has starred in a number of movies leading up to his notable role in The Hunger Games. Here we took a look.
