Netflix viewers are falling in love with a new Korean romantic comedy that’s been described as “wholesome”, “adorable”, and “beautiful.”
The film, Love Untangled (고백의 역사), dropped on the platform earlier this year, and had become a word-of-mouth hit. Fans have taken to social media to share just how much the movie has moved them, with many calling it one of the most heartfelt releases of the year.
What is Love Untangled about?
Love Untangled (Korean: 고백의 역사) is set in the late 1990s and follows two high school classmates, Han Yoon-seok (Gong Myung) and Park Se-ri (Shin Eun-soo), who are reluctantly paired for a school project. Yoon-seok is introverted and reserved, while Se-ri is creative and outspoken. But as they spend time together, their clashing personalities give way to an unexpected friendship that slowly turns into a tender first love.
The film is directed by Namkoong Sun and written by Ji Chun-hee and Wang Doo-ri. With its soft cinematography, enchanting soundtrack, and retro setting, it feels like a love letter to youth, friendship, and the innocence of teenage romance.
