What is Love, Rosie About?

Based on the 2004 novel Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern, Love, Rosie follows our two likable protagonists Alex (Sam Claflin) and Rosie (Lily Collins) as the course of their lives changes following an incident that happened on Rosie’s eighteenth birthday.

Despite being childhood friends, Alex has always wanted something more but isn’t sure Rosie feels the same. And his doubts are seemingly confirmed on that night.

Rosie has always dreamed of owning her own hotel and moves to Boston to study hotel management, while Alex is accepted into Harvard University. Though their lives take different paths, Alex and Rosie stay in touch and begin new relationships.

Leading somewhat messy lives, Alex and Rosie navigate breakups and tragedy. However, they’ve been there for each other through the highs and lows of life. Despite their bond, they fail to express how they truly feel, dealing with miscommunication, bad timing, and unspoken emotions.

Lily Collins and Sam Claflin give heartfelt performances and share great on-screen chemistry.

While the plot relies on some well-worn romantic tropes—missed chances and unrequited love—the film’s light-hearted and the characters make it enjoyable. And if you’re in the mood for a feel-good experience and heartwarming rom-com, you should definitely give Love, Rosie a chance.

The film’s cast includes Lily Collins as Rosie Dunne and Sam Claflin as Alex Stewart. Other notable members include Christian Cooke as Greg, Tamsin Egerton as Sally, and Jaime Winstone as Ruby. The film also features a supporting cast with Lily Laight, Art Parkinson, and others.
