Culpa Mía (My Fault) Review

Culpa Mía, also known as My Fault, is a movie on Amazon Prime. It’s based on the popular Wattpad story by Mercedes Ron. The film follows Noah, played by Spanish actress Nicole Wallace. Noah teenage girl whose life changes overnight. She’s forced to leave everything behind when her mom moves in with a wealthy new husband, William Leister (Iván Sánchez). Noah has to say goodbye to her boyfriend and best friend—and start over in a world she doesn’t know.
Noah is an angsty teenager struggling with feelings of childhood trauma and betrayal. She resents her mother, Rafaella (Marta Hazas), for making such a life-changing decision without considering her feelings.
She also moves in with her stepbrother named Nick, portrayed by Gabriel Guevar, and their first meeting doesn’t go well, as they don’t see eye to eye. They argue a lot at first, but there’s also something between them that’s hard to ignore.
Spending more time together, however, their feelings begin to change. There’s a lot of tension between them, and even though they know it’s wrong, they start to fall for each other. This kind of “forbidden love” is a big part of the movie and makes the story enjoyable to watch.
Nick is the kind of character who has a mysterious and troubled past, though he may be spoiled. Meanwhile, Noah also has to deal with a lot in her past, including the trauma of her cruel dad, played by actor Iván Massagué. You’ll instantly be reminded of familiar characters like Conrad from The Summer I Turned Pretty or Cole from My Life With the Walter Boys. He seems cool but dangerous, and causes a stir wherever he goes. As their love blossoms, Nick begins to get jealous when other people talk to Noah, which shows how much he cares about her.
You can also expect a lot of car races, as they play a prevalent role in Culpa Mía. This movie includes gang violence and a story about domestic abuse, and be warned, there are some scenes of nudity, swearing, and alcohol abuse.
Although the film is interesting overall, the acting can sometimes feel too dramatic. Some scenes are a bit over-the-top, and if you’re watching the dubbed version, the voices might feel a little off.
However, the chemistry between the two main characters is strong, and that’s what makes the movie work. Even though their relationship is not perfect, it’s fun to watch how they go from hating each other to falling in love.
In the end, Culpa Mía is a movie that is fast-paced, and the romance is spot on. There’s just enough yearning and desperation that you’ll root for Noah and Nick to finally get together. If you like stories about forbidden love, bad boys, and teenagers trying to figure out their feelings, you’ll probably like this one. It may not be perfect, but it gives fans of this kind of story what they’re looking for.
