November is shaping up to be a busy month for film lovers in 2025. Nothing beats a relaxing cinema date, and there are plenty of incredible movies to choose from. I’m not sure about you, but autumn is already flying by, and being busy with my full-time job, I haven’t really had the time to go to the cinema as much. But I hope that changes in November.

One film that I’m anticipating (and I’m sure everyone is) is Wicked: For Good. I’m also really looking forward to Frankenstein and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. If you’re curious about what types of movies are coming out soon, take a look at this list.

Wicked: For Good

First up on the list is Wicked: For Good. It is a film many people have been anticipating. In Wicked: For Good, we delve back into Elphaba and Glinda’s world. A conclusion of the two-part adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical Wicked, we will follow the final chapter of the duo’s journeys, revealing how the misunderstood “Wicked Witch of the West” and the “Good Witch” came to be. It is directed by Jon M. Chu, known for his work on Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights. The film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Ariana Grande as Glinda, Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.

Hamnet

Set in late-16th-century Stratford-upon-Avon, this historical drama, directed by Chloé Zhao (Nomadland, Eternals) and based on the novel by Maggie O’Farrell. The film follows a woman named Agnes (Jessie Buckley) and her husband, William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal), as their lives are turned upside down when their young son, Hamnet (Noah Jupe). The film deals with the themes of grief and loss, and is one of Shakespeare’s most iconic works. It also stars Emily Watson and Joe Alwyn in supporting roles.

Unexpected Christmas

Unexpected Christmas is a holiday romantic comedy with an all-black cast. starring Lil Rel Howery and Tabitha Brown. Released on November 7, the film revolves around the unexpected chaos for one family on Christmas – including rivalry and secrets. Unexpected Christmas is produced by 3 Diamonds Entertainment. Other casts include: Ricco Ross, Anna Maria Horsford, Terrence Terrell, and Reagan Gomez-Preston.

Keeper

Keeper is an upcoming surrealist horror film by Osgood Perkins. In this film, we follow Liz, who is left alone in a remote cabin where a malevolent force reveals itself, forcing a couple to confront the property’s haunting past. It stars Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland.

In Your Dreams

An upcoming animated fantasy adventure from Netflix Animation and Alex Woo. In Your Dreams tells the story of siblings Stevie and her brother Elliot. The duo takes a journey into the bizarre world of their shared dreams, where they encounter a snarky stuffed giraffe, zombie breakfast foods and the queen of nightmares. The film stars Craig Robinson, Simu Liu, Cristin Milioti, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Elias Janssen, Gia Carides, Omid Djalili, and SungWon Cho.

Frankenstein (by Guillermo del Toro)

A gothic sci-fi adaptation of Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818) by Mary Shelley, this 2025 film stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature. Victor is a mad yet passionate scientist who creates a Creature, assembling him from dead human body parts in an attempt to bring life from death. However, the Creature soon finds himself completely alone after his creator abandons him, and the world ultimately rejects him as well. The film features stunning cinematography and beautifully detailed costume design.

Bugonia

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, this absurdist black-comedy follows two conspiracy-theorist young men who kidnap a high-powered CEO, convinced she is an alien intent on destroying Earth. The cast includes Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, and Stavros Halkias. Bugonia includes dark humour, surreal visuals and commentary on paranoia, obsession and power.

Die My Love

A psychological drama directed by Lynne Ramsay, Die My Love stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. The film depicts a new mother who is slowly slipping into madness. Locked away in an old house in Montana, her increasingly agitated and erratic behaviour leaves her companion, Jackson, worried and helpless. Die My Love is directed by Lynne Ramsay, and written by Ramsay, Enda Walsh, and Alice Birch. It is based on the 2012 novel Die, My Love by Ariana Harwicz.

Predator: Badlands

A new entry in the Predator franchise, directed by Dan Trachtenberg. On a remote and dangerous planet, a young Predator (played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) is an outcast from his clan and finds an unexpected ally in Thia (played by Elle Fanning). Together they embark on a treacherous journey toward a formidable adversary. The movie is set to be released on November 7.

The Running Man

Directed by Edgar Wright, this dystopian action thriller is based on the 1982 novel by Stephen King (as Richard Bachman). In a near-future society, “Runners” compete in a televised death-game where they have to survive for 30 days while being hunted by professional “Hunters”. When working-class father Ben Richards (played by Glen Powell) enters to save his sick daughter, he becomes a fan-favourite and a threat to the system.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t

The third film in the “Now You See Me” series, directed by Ruben Fleischer. The original “Four Horsemen” illusionists (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher) re-unite and recruit a younger generation of magicians. Their target is a powerful crime-syndicate matriarch (Rosamund Pike) and the world’s largest queen diamond.

Zootopia 2

The sequel to the acclaimed animated hit takes place in the bustling animal metropolis of Zootopia. It follows bunny-cop Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and fox-turned-officer Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) as they pursue Zootopia’s new and mysterious reptilian resident, Gary De’Snake (voiced by Ke Huy Quan). The arrival of Gary De’Snake turns the city upside-down, sending Judy and Nick on an undercover trail through new districts, putting their partnership to the test, and unleashing all kinds of surprises.
