Amazon Prime viewers have been sharing the same complaints over a new drama that has been released on the streaming service.
Released in 2025, The Map That Leads to You is an American romantic drama directed by Lasse Hallström. The film is based on J.P. Monninger’s novel of the same title.

What is The Map That Leads to You about?
Starring Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa, The Map That Leads to You is a romantic story that starts on a night train to Barcelona.
Heather is a recent college grad with a high-paying job waiting back in New York who crosses paths with Jack, a handsome American traveling across Europe with only a vintage war journal as his guide.
The duo moves through cities like Porto and Rome. However, when Jack vanishes without warning, Heather is left with only his cryptic clues – and a choice between the life she planned and the one that might lead back to him.
Much like The Oxford Year, which was released the same month, The Map That Leads to You centers on a young woman – Heather – who, like Anna, moves away from home before starting a new chapter in their lives.
Both stories feature male leads who share a similar trait, as they have a secret they want to keep buried.
Viewers reactions
This hasn’t gone unnoticed by viewers as one person said, “the map that leads to do you was supposed to make me feel better after my Oxford year only to find myself heartbroken twice during this August (crying emoji)#TheMapThatLeadsToYou.”
Another film fan wrote, “Was looking forward to ‘the map that leads me to you’ but to me it was very slow and boring, Madelyn and KJ didn’t have great chemistry, love story wasnt intriguing, the storyline was kinda weak compared to others with the same type of storyline ie ‘my Oxford year.”
“i’m sick of whatever genre my oxford year and the map that leads to you is. You’ll never be me before you,” a third person wrote.
However, other viewers had some positive words to say.
