This Is Us is an emotional and incredibly moving story that starts with a group of thirty-somethings still figuring out their lives.
From Season 1, we’re introduced to Kevin, Randall, and Kate—siblings who’ve each forged their paths into adulthood. Randall, however, is different. Unlike Kevin and Kate, who are twins, Randall was adopted by their parents, Jack and Rebecca.
Across six seasons, the show takes us on an emotional whirlwind, following the siblings from childhood to adulthood, including their marriages. But their journey is far from easy.
Their story is filled with unexpected twists, often heartbreaking. If you’ve managed to watch it all then you’ll know just what I’m talking about.
Since the show concluded in 2022, we decided to take a look at what the cast has been up to since and their previous roles in acting.

Milo Ventimiglia
We all know Milo for playing the kind-hearted and bubbly dad Jack Pearson.
Jack is a hardworking man who wasn’t dealt the easiest hand in life. Growing up in a dysfunctional family, he always dreamed of creating a happy, loving, and healthy family of his own.
In real life, Milo is best known for playing Jess Mariano from Gilmore Girls, a role that made him a fan favorite. However, his career spans much more than Stars Hollow. He appeared in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, made guest appearances on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and has taken on a variety of roles since then.
Recently, Milo has appeared in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and in The Company You Keep.
Chrissy Metz
An older Kate is played by Chrissy Metz. Katie is the glue that holds the Pearson family together—she’s there to listen to Kevin’s drama or be Randall’s shoulder to cry on. But she has been dealt her fair share of struggles too. Over the seasons, we’ve seen her battle with body image, career, and relationships.
But she slowly starts to figure it all out. As the show goes on, Kate learns to love herself, go after what she wants, and finally find her happiness.
But let’s take a look at what actress Chrissy Metz has starred in before and after the show concluded.
Before landing her breakthrough role, she starred in shows like American Horror Story: Hotel and The Last O.G. More recently, she took part in the Masked Singer!
Mandy Moore
Rebecca is Jack’s wife, a former aspiring singer who gave up the stage to become a stay-at-home mom to their three children. Despite her sacrifices, she faces judgment from her disapproving mother for marrying Jack, who at the time was struggling financially.
In real life, Mandy is a singer as well as an actress. She had a successful music career, with her debut single “Candy” hitting number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1999. Her first album, So Real, went platinum.
Sterling K. Brown
Sterling K. Brown, Randall was abandoned at a hospital after Jack and Rebecca lost one of their triplets. They saw his arrival as a sign and adopted him as their own.
Growing up in a loving family, Randall often feels like something’s missing, as he tries to understand where he comes from—his birth parents and his roots—and figure out who he truly is.
Before This Is Us, Sterling appeared in Person of Interest, The StartUp, and Supernatural. Following the show’s conclusion he went on to appear in Invincible and Paradise.
Susan Kelechi Watson
Beth is a professional dancer, business owner, supportive wife, and mother – a real-life superhero. As the seasons progress, we see more of her navigating family life and dealing with the news of Randall’s past.
Susan Kelechi has starred in shows such as NCIS, Law & Order, and The Good Wife. She has since appeared in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Great Performances: Merry Wives, and Will Trent.
Justin Hartley
When we’re first introduced to Kevin, he’s on the set of a TV show, but he’s always felt his career has been declining. After failed relationships and hookups, he turns to his siblings for help in coping with his life struggles. But what we come to love about Kevin is that, despite his flaws, he’s caring, kind, and a family man – just like his dad, Jack.
Justin Hartley has an extensive acting CV having starred in groundbreaking shows such as Smallville, CSI: NY, and Revenge. As of 2024, he has been appearing in the American action drama Tracker.
Ron Cephas Jones
In the later seasons, Randall reunites with his biological father, William Hill. However, he comes to terms with the fact that Hill has terminal cancer.
Before This Is Us, Ron appeared in shows such as NYPD Blue and films such as He Got Game and Venom. After his role as William he has continued to act recently joining the cast of Genius: MLK/X as Elijah Muhammad.
Chris Sullivan
In the show’s pilot episode, Kate meets Toby at a weight-loss support group. Both attend the meeting to work on their struggles with weight and self-esteem, and the couple goes on to start dating and marry.
Chris received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his role as the character. He has previously appeared in A Gifted Man, The Americans, The Independents, and Stranger Things. Meanwhile, in 2023, he voiced Jerry in American Dad!
Hannah Zeile
Hannah plays a teenage Kate. Due to devasting family circumstances, Katie begins to binge eating at the same time she is set to graduate High School. She is also uncertain about her future.
According to the actress’ IMDB page, she has appeared in Anger Management, The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale, and Noches con Platanito.
Niles Fitch
A teenage Randall, played by Niles Fitch, grapples with his identity as a Black child adopted into a white family while doing well at school and striving to make his parents proud. Before This Is Us, Niles starred in We Have a Ghost, the film Roman J. Israel, Esq., and St. Vincent.
Lyric Ross
Played by Lyric Ross, Deja is adopted by Randall and his wife, Beth. At first, she is quiet and keeps to herself, but over time, she starts to feel more comfortable and bonds with Randall’s daughters, Tess and Annie.
Ross is an actress, known for This Is Us (2016), Wendell & Wild (2022), and Ironheart (2025).
Logan Shroyer
Growing up Kevin dreamed of being a professional footballer. However, his hopes are crushed due to unexpected circumstances, forcing him to quit the sport. Actor Logan Shrroyer has been in films such as A Waltons Thanksgiving (2022) The Waltons’ Homecoming (2021) and My Dead Dad (2021).
Asante Blackk
Malik, played by Asante Blackk, meets Deja at school in Philadelphia after Randall moves his family there. Deja develops a crush on Malik, a teen who is also a young father. Their relationship quickly develops.
Despite being young, Asante has accomplished a successful career in the acting business. He is best known for appearing in the hard-hitting Netflix show When They See Us, Social Distance, and the 2023 movie Landscape with Invisible Hand.
Will there be a Season 7 of This Is Us?
Although the show seemed to wrap things up perfectly, fans are still eager to see the Pearson family back on their screens. So, is there a chance for another series?
Despite strongly implying the show had ended for good, creator Dan Fogelman hinted in an interview with The Direct that This Is Us might still have more story to tell.
He said: “Is there another play for the show? I guess you’d never say never, but I don’t see it. It’s personal to me, and I don’t see myself picking this thing back up.”
