Emily In Paris Trivia

Lily Collins is the daughter of musician Phil Collins. Patricia Field, known for her work on Sex and the City, designed the show’s iconic fashion. Emily’s apartment is located in a building in the 5th arrondissement, but the interior scenes were filmed on a set.

The producers initially offered the iconic role to Elle Fanning, but they gave it to Collins. The show showcases a range of landmarks, though some scenes were filmed in Prague, Czech Republic, due to pandemic restrictions.

Emily struggles at work because she can’t speak a word of French, which is the total opposite of Collins. “I used to speak and dream in French, read in French, and was pretty fluent,” she told Glamour. “But then I stopped practicing.” Also, check out this fun video about the show!

Lily Collins on Playing Emily

Collins often describes Emily as a relentless optimist, despite criticism that her character can be “annoying.”

In another interview with Vogue Arabia, she expressed: “She’s a bright light in a dark time. People need that right now. She doesn’t mean to upset people; she’s just a girl who’s trying to make it work.”

Lily also loves how Emily’s bold fashion choices, which has pushed her to experiment more with colors and prints. “I take new risks because of Emily, whether that’s with color palette, texture, print, or shape—she helps me branch out and try new things,” she told Harper’s Bazaar Australia
