Bakers, ready? Viewers ready? The new series of The Great British Bake Off, your favourite baking show, is about to starts with a new judge. Twelve amateur bakers are heading to the white tent soon as they prove their skills infront of Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson.

Who is the new judge of The Great British Bake Off?

Food writer and television cook Nigella Lawson has taken over from Prue Leith, who announced her departure from this show in January, 2026.

Before becoming helming British TV cooking shows, Nigella worked as a journalist and became deputy literary editor of The Sunday Times in 1986.

She published her first cookbook, How to Eat: The Pleasures and Principles of Good Food, in 1998. It became a bestseller, selling around 300,000 copies. Her second book, How to Be a Domestic Goddess, was published in 2000 and won her the British Book Award for Author of the Year.

She became a household name through her television series Nigella Bites, which began in 1999. She has since presented a number of successful cooking programmes, including Nigella Feasts, Nigella Express, Nigella Kitchen and Nigellissima. She also appeared as a judge on the American cooking competition The Taste alongside Anthony Bourdain.

Who are the new contestants for The Great British Bake Off?
