I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited for the next season of Young Sherlock, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Dónal Finn. I’m a fan of the first season, which completely blew me away. Now, I’m ready for Sherlock and James Moriarty to be thrust back into more action in the upcoming series.
It’s already been confirmed that there will be a second season after the first season aired on Amazon Prime Video in March 2026. It saw Sherlock up to all sorts of trouble as he tried to solve a complicated mystery, reconnect with his sister, and uncover the truth about his treacherous dad.

When was Young Sherlock Season 2 renewed?
Fans didn’t have to watch very long after the conclusion of Young Sherlock season 1. Just a month after its release date, news reports shared that Amazon Prime Video renewed the show for a second series. Ritchie is set to return behind the cameras and direct the first episode.
Peter Friedlander, head of Amazon MGM studios, has spoken out about the new series, calling it a “spectacular detective story” and saying that fans will “fall in love with the origin story.”
He added, “Guy Richie and Matthew Parkhill have cracked the code on making Sherlock’s early years feel fresh, dangerous, and utterly addictive.”
Who is joining the cast of Young Sherlock season 2?
It’s all very exciting with new additions added to the cast. Olivia Williams, Sophie Skelton, Indira Varma, and Aidan Gillen have joined the main cast for the second season. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Henry Cavill, Yung Filly, Russell Tovey, and Joseph Fiennes will not be returning for Season 2.
Has filming started already for Young Sherlock season 2?
Filming has already begun on the new season in July 2026. The filming locations this time include Bristol, Spain, Cardiff and Wales.
How did Young Sherlock season 1 end?
