Squid Game sparked the start of the worldwide phenomenon – a series that had all of us hooked to our screens. Airing back in 2021, the South Korean survival drama series was created by Hwang Dong-hyuk.

It stars Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun, a down-and-out man who has a gambling addiction and enters the competition in hopes of winning a large cash prize.
Other key cast members include Park Hae-soo as Cho Sang-woo, a former childhood friend of Gi-hun, and Jung Ho-yeon as Kang Sae-byeok, a North Korean defector.
The story revolves around 456 players as he’s desperate to get rid of his large debt along with others as they are lured into participating in a series of deadly children’s games, with the last person standing winning a fortune.
The contestants soon realize that losing any game results in their death, and they eventually turn against each other to win more money.
The show became a global sensation, achieving massive success worldwide. It became Netflix’s most-watched series at the time, with over 111 million viewers in its first 28 days.
