Doctor Slump – where do I even start? For someone who doesn’t usually enjoy medical dramas, I couldn’t get enough of this show.

What’s Doctor Slump About?
Doctor Slump follows the journey of two medical professionals: Yeo Jeong-woo (Park Hyung-sik), a successful plastic surgeon, and Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye), a struggling anesthesiologist.
The two characters, both highly accomplished academically, reunite years later after having been classmates in high school.
While Jeong-woo is optimistic and carefree, Ha-neul is more logical, focused on her work, and often burdened by the expectations placed on her.
The story kicks off when Ha-neul, exhausted and overworked, collapses on a street, while Jeong-woo is facing his struggles.
Though they have similar qualifications and career potential, both are disillusioned with their lives.
Ha-neul, in particular, realizes that she has sacrificed meaningful experiences in pursuit of success, a truth that Jeong-woo helps her confront.
As they both navigate their lows, they find solace in each other, slowly discovering what truly matters beyond professional accomplishments.
Is Doctor Slump Worth Watching?
Doctor Slump is definitely worth watching, especially if you enjoy shows about healing and the difficulties of adulthood.
The show’s biggest strength lies in its relatability as it honestly touches on important topics like burnout, feelings of guilt, and the search for happiness beyond the workspace.
The relationship between Jeong-woo and Ha-neul is a standout, as I couldn’t get enough of their “enemies-to-lovers” arc.
They are also the sweetest couple! Jeong-woo becomes Ha-neul’s support system, helping her realize there is more to her than just her job title.
If you’re in the mood for a show that is heartfelt and realistic, with a focus on character development, Doctor Slump is an excellent pick. It’s a comforting reminder that sometimes, the most important thing you can do is take care of yourself.
