Jonathan Bailey speaks out on his role in Wicked
The star reflects on his experience taking on a role in Wicked, revealing how it brought him back to his roots in performance. Speaking about the impact of the role, Jonathan shared:
“(The role) reminded me of two things in the sort of purest version of who I am. I loved dancing and I loved singing. And to be able to return to that, it all sort of feels full circle,” he said in an interview.
Bailey said his Bridgerton experience helped him approach the highly anticipated production.
“I feel like I have had good training for it,” he said.”I think ‘Bridgerton‘ was an adaptation that was so successful, brilliant and genius and many people loved the books, but I feel the imagery in ‘Wicked’ is so iconic, so it is slightly different, said Bailey, adding “It’s exciting to share another fandom.”
In an interview with ComicBook, Bailey also reflected on a memorable moment during his work on Wicked. The actor spoke with the publication and mentioned that he was totally “disassociated” but at the same time worked extremely hard to achieve that perfection while working with costars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
“I’d say I completely disassociated,” he admitted, recalling the intensity of the scene. “I vaguely remember bits of my toupee in the foreground and Jon Chu going like that (thumbs up) in the background.”
