I don’t know about you but I would do anything to relive the days when I would catch new episodes of Pretty Little Liars as they dropped.
Remember trying to piece together all the secrets and clues like Aria, Emily, Spencer, and Hanna or being highly suspicious of everyone in Rosewood? I’m pretty sure many of us spent watching each episode figuring out who killed Alison and who was behind the infamous “A.”
When the show aired back in 2010, I was expecting it to be just an average high school murder mystery show but boy was I wrong. It has the internet in a frenzy. I mean talk about those plot twists and cliffhangers!!
Although Pretty Little Liars concluded in 2017, it’s definitely one of those shows that had everyone talking – even in school or on the way to work (I am guilty of this).
Honestly, who can forget those jaw-dropping endings and that constant game of “Who can you trust?” PLL had it all, and we’re still not over it!
Now, to take a trip down memory lane, here are 10 amazing facts from the show that you probably didn’t know.
Who Knew What About A?

You might be surprised to learn that many of the cast members on Pretty Little Liars knew who A was at some point during the show, but there was one person who was kept in the dark.
Can you guess who that is? Well, it’s none other than Lucy Hale, who played Aria Montgomery.
The rest of the cast was worried she the actress might accidentally spill the beans! They all thought she wasn’t the best at keeping secrets, so they decided to leave her out of the loop to avoid any accidental reveals.
It’s a pretty funny detail considering how mysterious the show was, but I guess we can’t blame the cast for not wanting to spoil the biggest twist of the series!
Let’s Talk About That Iconic Theme Song
We can all vividly remember humming to the iconic tune at the start of each episode, but did you know that the song “Secret” by The Pierces, was suggested by Ashley Benson?
The American actress, who many of us know for playing Hanna Marin in the drama, thought the song fit perfectly for the show.
Age Gap Facts
Would you believe that Tammin Sursok, who played the mysterious Jenna, was almost 25 years old when she filmed Pretty Little Liars episode 1.2, “The Jenna Thing” (2010)? Crazy right? Meanwhile, Sasha Pieterse, who played Alison, was just 13 years old!
Another interesting age fact: Ian Harding plays Ezra, a high school teacher who starts a relationship with his student, Aria, played by Lucy Hale. Though Ezra is 8 years older than Aria in the show, in real life, Harding is only 3 years older than Hale.
Amazing Pretty Little Liars and Gilmore Girls Connection
Here’s a fun connection you might not have noticed: Many of the scenes from Pretty Little Liars were filmed in the same town of Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls!
Yep, those small-town vibes we loved in Gilmore Girls also made their way into PLL, which may explain why some scenes from the show looked familiar.

But the show didn’t only share a connection with Gilmore Girls But Suits as well!
Vanessa Ray (who played CeCe Drake) and Troian Bellisario (aka Spencer Hastings) worked together on Pretty Little Liars, but here’s the twist — they both also appeared on Suits, just not at the same time!
But here’s another interesting fact: both actresses played love interests to Patrick J. Adams (who you might know as Mike Ross), who just happens to be Troian’s real-life husband. How amazing is that?
Even though Patrick appeared in a brief role on PLL as Ezra’s friend, he never got to share a scene with either of these two! Talk about six degrees of separation! It’s like a mini PLL and Suits crossover we didn’t even know we needed!
PLL Fans, Meet Tatli Kucuk Yalancilar
Did you know Pretty Little Liars inspired a Turkish remake?
Tatli Kucuk Yalancilar (which translates to “Sweet Little Liars”) aired in Turkey from July to October 2015.
The show ran for just one season, with 13 episodes, on Star TV. If you’re a PLL fan, Tatli Kucuk Yalancilar is definitely worth checking out to see how they adapted the beloved drama for a new audience.
Adorable Fan-Made Nicknames
As the show grew, so did its dedicated fanbase. Along the way, many Pretty Little Liars came up with some seriously epic ships! And, of course, fans took it to the next level by creating nicknames for all the couples.
These included: Spoby (Spencer & Toby) or Ezria (Ezra & Aria), right? Then there’s Haleb (Hanna & Caleb), Emison (Emily & Alison), and Paily (Paige & Emily) — each of these relationships had us swooning!

A PLL Easter Egg You Might Have Missed!
One last fact for you all, if you’re a Pretty Little Liars fan, you’ll love this fun little Easter egg from season 2, episode 12!
After Dr. Sullivan is left by A at the diner, a waitress refers to A as “pretty eyes.” Seems pretty normal right? But check this out! The waitress’ name tag briefly flashes the name “Marlene” — a sly reference to the show’s creator, I. Marlene King.
